By the use of vegetable oil as a raw material in the manufacturing of acoustic systems, the WPT LTD was able to create an outstanding innovation.After periods of long and intensive inhouse R&D the Detmold based company can offer unique ecological `Footfall Sound + Walking Noise Reduction Systems´ with the new SRL ECO line range.
`In times of limited resources and dramatically increasing oil prices on the World Market, we made it our business to continuously search and find alternatives for our petrochemical polyolen which is a main component of our acoustic systems. We have achieved this by the use of vegetable oil and are now able to offer an entirely ecological product at a constant price´, says Georg Kruse, Managing Director of WPT LTD.
With their new product line SRL, the Detmold based company offers acoustic systems consisting of a minimum of 93% of renewable resources, filling materials such as vegetable oil, chalk, sand etc. For more than a decade ( since the late 90´s ) the WPT LTD has been focusing on the development , production and marketing of acoustic systems and high end floorings on the basis of polyolen.
The acoustic systems are mainly used for the reduction of footfall sound and walking noise under parquet and laminate flooring. Special systems are used in the professional door manufacturing and in the area of application for `decoupling and walking noise reduction´, i.e. for tiles and natural stone floorings. Moreover these systems are applied in all areas where soundproofing and decoupling is required. Traditionally, the main ingredient POLYOLEN, a petrochemical material solely gained from oil, was used for these products.
Faced with limited oil resources and enormous price fluctuations the WPT LTD has made it their business to find alternatives.
The result is clearly revolutionary :
Through the use of renewable resources e.g. rape or castor oil which are produced in an eco-safe- way, the WPT LTD. is now in the position to offer their customers recognized and proven ecological products at constant prices.
There are no differences in quality to the previous Sound Reduct Layer. The mats continuously offer the best walking noise and footfall sound optimization including highest walking comfort thus making them very gentle to human joints. The mats are odourless and suitable for the laying on all conventional underfloor heatings.
With an overall capacity of 11 mio. sqm/p.a. the WPT LTD has evolved to one of the leading competitors of Europe in the field of acoustic systems. With inhouse R&D departments and inhouse test labs the company ensures a highly developed environmental awareness and innovative, customized product and problem solutions. Currently the WPT LTD. is delivering more than 100 customized system solutions which vary in composition, color, strengths and formats.
The company produces the mats as fixed dimensions which are then glued directly behind the panel. The layers are also delivered on rolls which are distributed by carefully selected trade partners to the final customer.
At the beginning of 2009 another highlight was to come and to be presented onto the market: the new underlay for carpet floors in buildings. The new underlay mat with a height of only 3mm is clearly responsible for the remarkable increase in footfall sound reduction of at least 25 decibel and a higher walking comfort which are clearly convincing advantages especially in the area of hotel and office buildings. By means of the officially referred to ` B1 Equipment´, i.e. a fire-resistant material behavior, this mat meets the highest requirements in the field of buildings.

The future looks bright for the Detmold based company and they are, no doubt, weathering the crisis. Due to further developments as to individual customer products the company will expand its team in Detmold successively. For the current year percental double-figure increases in the turnover are expected.
